“It has been my privilege to represent Lorna Linda University Medical Center in our work with Mr. Victor Issa as he has sculpted the newly unveiled work of art titled “Come Unto Me.” This is an ensemble of figures that represent Christ welcoming both patients and caregivers, to come to Him. “Come Unto Me” is the masterful work from the hand of one of the most gifted sculptors working today. Though just unveiled last month, this work of art is already a major blessing to our organization and the large number of patients and families we serve.
Words are imperfect instruments to convey the effects of “Come Unto Me.” I have personally observed the transformative power of the work. Earlier this week, a young boy told his mother, as they were leaving our facility, “ Wait. I want to go back and hug Jesus!” The entire work conveys welcoming love and grace. There is also a sense of joy as people come to Christ. In his inimitable way, Mr. Issa has brought these sculpted figures to life.
On a personal note, it has been a remarkable source of spiritual blessing to me to collaborate with Mr. lssa. He is a not only an amazing sculptor, he is a person of integrity and faith .
